St.Gallen is only one hour away from Zurich by car and is also easy to reach by public transport. Austria and Germany are also nearby. Distances: Zurich 1 hour, Munich 2.5 hours, Stuttgart 2.5 hours, Milan 3.5 hours.
- By car
Take the motorway exit St.Gallen/Kreuzbleiche and head towards the centre. Once you have gone through the tunnel, move into the left lane and follow the sign to Universität/WBZ Holzweid.
- By public transport
Trains run from Zurich’s main train station and Zurich airport to St.Gallen every 30 minutes. The journey takes about 1 hour. There are also direct express trains from Berne (2 hours), Geneva (4 hours) and Munich (3 hours) to St.Gallen.
At St.Gallen’s main train station, take bus no. 5 towards Rotmonten. The buses run every 10 minutes. Get off at the “Universität/Dufourstrasse” bus stop and cross the main road. Or, go to the Bahnhof Nord bus stop (at the back of the train station) and take bus no. 9 to “Universität/Gatterstrasse”. These buses run every 20 minutes.
- By plane
Zurich airport is only one hour away from St.Gallen by car or train. A direct train runs from Zurich airport to St.Gallen twice an hour.
The St.Gallen-Altenrhein airport is virtually at our doorstep, 10 minutes away from Rorschach and 30 minutes from St.Gallen.
Access to the Conference Rooms and Social Events
All participants will receive a conference package and a badge during the registration at the conference. The badge must be worn all times and is your entrance ticket to the session rooms and all events organised outside the campus.
Registered accompanying persons can participate at the welcome reception on Thursday evening and the Conference dinner on Saturday evening. Registration of accompanying persons can be done through the registration site. The guided city tour (see below) is not included but optional at additional costs.
We pre-reserved rooms at several hotel categories in St. Gallen. You are advised to reserve your rooms well in advance as bookings received after June 15 cannot be guaranteed. Please go to Hotel Accommodations for more information and booking instructions.
Authors of submitted papers
On 1st and 2nd of March, all authors are informed by e-mail of the status of their paper. Please contact email@example.com in case you did not receive this information message.
Please note that paper submitters have to be registered before May 1, 2017 otherwise their paper will NOT be included in the sessions programme.
Cancellation policy conference registration
Cancellation of registration before August 21 2017: 50% refund of registration fee (excluding the membership fee). Cancellation of registration on or after August 21, 2017: 0% refund of registration fee.

EALE Membership and Labour Economics
In order to attend the EALE annual conference, it is compulsory to become a member of EALE for 2017 and you have to pay the membership fee for 2017. The EALE membership 2017 includes an on-line access to the official journal of EALE: LABOUR ECONOMICS. The price of the membership for 2017 is EURO 47,50. Furthermore EALE-members can submit articles to LABOUR ECONOMICS for free (submission fee for non-members is EURO 75). All 2017 members are listed at the member list. If you are not included to this list you have to pay the non-membership fees as indicated on the registration site.
EALE General Assembly Meeting
The EALE General Assembly Meeting is a general meeting for all participants/members and is chaired by the President of EALE. This meeting is scheduled on Saturday 23 September.
To contact the police, fire brigade or ambulance service in an emergency you can call 118 for the fire brigade, 144 for the ambulance or 117 for the police. In case of fire alarm you are required to evacuate the building immediately without further delay. Security staff will direct you to the emergency exits.
Guided City Tour
We plan to organize a guided city tour on Friday evening. This tour includes a visit to the Abbey of St. Gallen and its library. The library at the Abbey is one of the richest medieval libraries in the world. Since 1983 the whole remaining abbey precinct has been a UNESCO World Heritage site.
This tour is optional. The costs of this city tour are not included to the conference registration fee and will be approximately CHF 25 per person. Your participation ticket can be purchased at the registration desk during the conference. If you are interested in joining this tour, please indicate this already during your registration.
There is free wifi available on the conference venue.
