Annual Conference EALE 20 - 22 September 2007, Oslo

Conference programme

Some impressions....

The Department of Economics of the University of Oslo is proud to announce that it will host the EALE Conference 2007 on September 20th-22nd, 2007. The event will bring together all those with an interest in the field of labour economics. The annual conference provides a meeting point where members and researchers are presenting and discussing their ongoing research.

The Conference will be organized by the Department of Economics, University of Oslo, Institute for Social Research, and the Frisch Centre. The University of Oslo is Norway's largest and oldest institution of higher education founded in 1811. Today the University of Oslo has 30,000 students and 4,600  employees.

The Department of Economics was founded by Professor Ragnar Frisch in 1932 as a research institute under the name of the Institute of Economics. Today it is the university department for teaching at all academic levels as well as research in economics. It is greatly indebted for its proud history to its Nobel laureates Ragnar Frisch and Trygve Haavelmo.  The Ragnar Frisch Centre for Economic Research extends the research environment of the department and adds to the applied research in economics at the University of Oslo.

Institute for Social Research (ISF) was established as an independent foundation in 1950. Ever since its foundation the institute has been multidisciplinary in its orientation, today comprising research within all of the social sciences, as well as history. Today ISF provides one of the few social science fora outside the universities in Norway which has not limited itself to the study of one single sector of society.

The Ragnar Frisch Centre for Economic Research is an independent research institution founded by the University of Oslo. The Frisch Centre conducts applied economic research in co-operation with the Department of Economics and other units at the university, and supports education in economics. Research project are conducted by the staff at the Frisch Centre, at the University of Oslo and at other Norwegian and foreign research institutions.
